the best gift

The big kids ‘gave’ me good behavior. Sawyer gave me a little bit of attitude, demanding that it was his birthday, not mine (and some amazing hugs that made up for the sass.) Toby gave me the usual dog hugs, and Jeffy gave me the best gift… the lone rose from our backyard (that he found by the light of his phone in the middle of the night.) It was accompanied by the loveliest note, and it was the perfect gift. It’s funny how as the years roll on, “things” aren’t important on birthdays anymore. Sweet words, kindness from my kiddos and a doggy hug or two make everything worth while. Hello 33. You’re gonna be a good one…

magic

Lovely spring, Texan light. Picnic blanket nestled in the wildflowers. My three children; the rulers of my heart. Collecting flowers, peeking in on busy grasshoppers, the warm spring breeze wrapping its arms around you. Magic.
